No one has Air Max Tavas Cool Grey been ever charged with the murder. A 20,000 reward for information was not enough to bring anyone to justice. But the six men in the house that night, who Gail described as nothing more than 'associates' of Steven, were named at the inquest into his death in 2001.
She went into her front room to discover her only son with devastating head injuries, dying on the sofa. He was unconscious and had a shoe print on his face.
They started drinking and twice woke Gail, who was asleep upstairs. On the second occasion, she heard people leaving at around 6am, so she got up and went downstairs.
The coroner, Leonard Gorodkin, said he believed at least one of them battered Steven, while others looked on.
Gail, now 60, described the inquest as a 'sham' and said she has given up hope that she will ever see Steven's murderer convicted.
An ambulance arrived shortly after and Steven was taken to hospital but he couldn't survive the severity of the injuries meted out to him.
"Quite a few will have children of their own now, so they should think about how this feels.
take our lives as well. We have to live they way Steven would've wanted us to live."
"You can't do things like that and get away with it." Charity worker Gail said it felt like time had stood still since the death of her son, who would have been 40 last November.
Cummins, Steven's only genuine friend in the house, did not turn up at the inquest. In an unconnected incident he was stabbed to death on a canal towpath in Droylsden a year after it was held. Dolan also said he had no recollection of the night's events.
The men were calmly strolling towards the front door, one brushing past Gail on the way out.

And yet, nearly 16 years on, not one of them has ever come forward to tell police what happened. Their wall of silence means murder detectives have never nailed Steven's killer.
"Steven was my child. I had him for 25 years but he was still my little baby.
But he told the inquest he could not remember if he did or not and had nothing else to say.
Questions like, who struck the fatal blow? And how could those present be so callous as to never speak of what they saw? "They will be happily living their lives now," Steven's mum Gail Monaghan said.
The men included James Alan Booth, from Clayton, and Andrew Dennis, from Failsworth, who were in jail for unrelated offences at the time of the inquest. Police believe Dennis, jailed for 15 years in 2000 for his involvement in a shooting spree around Oldham and Rochdale, called an ambulance for Steven shortly after the attack.
15 years of agony and unanswered questions.
Booth refused to answer questions during the hearing.
The others in the house that night were Paul Cummins and Dean Francis Dolan, both from Droylsden, and two other men who cannot be named for legal reasons.
She added: "Steven is still a very big part of our lives. I miss him more than ever.
"But we don't let it bring us down. We have to carry on living because they can't Nike Air Max Thea Mid Top
"But whatever your religious beliefs are, I do think they will pay for what they did in one way or another.
A hysterical Gail ran outside and shouted to the men as they walked away, but they responded with abuse.
"He deserved to live. He deserved to have a future. He was a good person." Steven was at home on the night on Friday, November 17, 1995, with his friend Paul Cummins, who had been taken in by the Hurst family so he could find his feet after a spell in prison. A gang of men turned up at the house, on North Road, Clayton, in the early hours of the next morning to 'celebrate' Steven's birthday.
"They have family and children. Steven has been robbed of that.
"I don't think justice will be done in this world or through our legal system," Gail added.
