It is open to all businesses that are active in the local community, between one and three years old and full of potential. They may have a great idea or product, or even have found a new market.

Prime Minister David Cameron and Dragon's Den star Deborah Meaden have thrown their weight behind a campaign to see local newspapers help small business develop.

Geraldine Allinson, president of the Newspaper Society, said: "The UK needs to grow local businesses like never before, and local businesses need local press.
500 publications across the UK are taking part, with more than 15m of ad space being pledged as part of the campaign.
They'll also be looking out for that one overall star business to put forward to be in with a chance to gain Deborah Meaden as a mentor during 2012.
She said: "I've seen the unique contribution that local press makes to the success of local businesses time and again with my own ventures.
Publishers are joining forces to find the nation's most promising young companies and help them accelerate their success with advice from local business mentors and a substantial allocation of free advertising space in their local paper.

Members of the local business community alongside MEN Media representatives will form the judging panel and review and shortlist entries before awarding three local businesses with the prize of free advertising and business advice.
Mr Cameron described the LBA scheme as an "excellent initiative".

The MEN is backing the Newspaper Society's Local Business Accelerators scheme, which launched this week.
